Sensory Sensitivity Unleashed

This is the 3rd book in a line I have begun writing to help those who don't already understand Autism. I am very passionate about these topics because I too am on the spectrum and have spent the last 15 years of my life dedicated to working in mental health. For most of my life I just felt like I was different, weird and sometimes unwanted. I didn't understand what was keeping me in misery until I learned about Neurodiversity and how it is simply a 'Different-ability' and not about the stigma of a 'Dis-ability'. I believe the rest of the world would benefit from this understanding, hence the books. These titles are meant for Parents, Teachers, Doctors, Nurses etc. who want to understand autism and how to better work with those on the spectrum.

Autism: The Autism Parent’s Guide. Practical Strategies for Everyday Challenges

Being a parent or caregiver of a child with autism brings about a unique set of challenges and experiences. The impact of autism on families is profound, touching every aspect of their lives. This book aims to shed light on the various ways in which autism affects families and provide practical strategies to navigate these challenges. One of the first and most noticeable impacts of autism on families is the emotional toll it takes. Parents often experience a range of emotions, including grief, guilt, and frustration. They may mourn the loss of the ""typical"" child they had envisioned, and feel guilty for experiencing negative emotions towards their own child. It is crucial for parents to acknowledge and process these emotions, seeking support from professionals or support groups as needed...

Embark on an illuminating journey through the pages of ""Discovering My Spectrum: A Neurodivergent Approach to Adult Autism."" This compelling narrative transcends the conventional boundaries of autism guides, offering a profound exploration of the intricate experiences faced by adults living on the spectrum. In the intricate dance of my journey, the road to rediscovering ""normalcy"" wasn't a swift transition after my sessions with a therapist and consultations with a Nutritionist. It was a journey that unfolded with a series of consultations, discussions, and a myriad of lifestyle adjustments. There was a delicate interplay between my mental health professional and the nutritional expert as they navigated the complexities of the spectrum. It wasn't an immediate transformation, but rather a process, a delicate back-and-forth that required both patience and perseverance...

Autistic People With Co-occurring Psychological Conditions: Prevalence and Perspectives From Autistics, Their Families, and Professionals

This book provides a comprehensive overview of the experiences and challenges faced by autistics who also have co-occurring psychological conditions such as anxiety, depression, and gender dysphoria. The topic of autistics with co-occurring psychological conditions is currently of particular importance to the field of autism research because research has shown that a significant proportion of autistics also have co-occurring psychological conditions. However, these co-occurring conditions are often overlooked or misdiagnosed, which can lead to inappropriate or ineffective treatment. This book fills a critical gap in the literature by providing a comprehensive resource that addresses the specific needs of this population. This book aims to increase understanding and awareness of these co-occurring conditions among autistics, their families, caregivers, and mental health professionals.

A Clinician’s Guide to Supporting Autistic Clients

How can I best support the needs of my neurodivergent clients in therapy? Creating a more supportive environment for autistic clients can be a confusing process. With so much information, and so many different perspectives, it can be difficult to know where to start. Further, the mental health field has only recently begun moving away from “treating autism” to working with autistic and neurodivergent individuals in a more affirming way. That’s why Dr. Amy Marschall created A Clinician’s Guide to Supporting Autistic Clients. As an expert psychologist and a member of the autism community herself, she recognized the need to move away from treatments that pathologize differences and toward a neurodiversity-affirming approach that meets clients where they are..
