Shauna McCann
Shauna is a Speech and Language Therapist working in Horizons Therapy Services. She holds a Masters (MA) degree in English literature and language studies from NUI Maynooth and subsequently completed her Master of Science (MSc) degree in Speech and Language Therapy from the University of Limerick. During her studies Shauna volunteered with Childline and was involved in the Visiting Aphasia Scheme (VAS) acting as a conversation partner for residents who had suffered stroke. Shauna received the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists (IASLT) student award in recognition of her research project entitled āPEG or not to PEG: A systematic review of the evidence underpinning PEG recommendations in Dementia Clinical Practice Guidelinesā. Her project is being presented at the 2018 European Society for Swallowing Disorders (ESSD) annual congress and is subsequently being submitted for publishing.
