Nutrition has been a passion of mine for many years since visiting the London vegetarian restaurant, Cranks, way back in the 80’s. I used to go home and recreate the delicious recipes much to my family’s delight. At Reading University I studied for a B.Sc Hons in Food Science which was very interesting and great fun (making rum and raisin ice-cream, canning baked beans, using spectroscopes) and got paid for being a chocolate taster which can’t be bad!. However on graduation I rapidly decided that a career in the food industry making corn flakes last longer in the packet or creating new artificial flavours for crisps was not for me. This led me, after a few years travelling and working for Cadbury Schweppes, to study for a Masters degree in Nutrition at Kings College London and later training in Nutritional Therapy at the renowned Institute of Optimum Nutrition, started by pioneering nutritionist Patrick Holford, graduating with distinction in 1997.
