Jessica Riady
Jessica earned her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Columbia University (New York City, USA). She completed her Clinical Fellowship (CF) under the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA), a nationally recognized American professional credential, and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA. In New York, Jessica was trained at YAI, a New York-based special needs preschool, where she provided speech-language therapy to preschoolers (aged 3-5) with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and the Children Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center (CERC), where she assessed and treated children aged 3-12, with speech and language disorders. While at CERC, she was trained in Social Thinking under Ms. Nancy Tarshis, and led social thinking groups for children with high-functioning ASD who struggle language pragmatics. In Singapore, Jessica has worked with students with hearing impairment at the Singapore School for the Deaf (SSD). She knows basic sign language in order to communicate with students with hearing impairment. Jessica has a clinical interest in helping children with speech-language delays and Autism Spectrum Disorders. In particular, she is passionate about building their expressive communication skills to empower them to communicate their needs and wants to the best of their ability, using engaging and fun activities that are meaningful to the particular child. Whether communication happens through speech or through other modalities, such as gesture and signing or picture exchange, Jessica believes what is important is the child’s ability to effectively communicate with the world around him/her. In order to achieve successful therapy outcomes, she believes in taking time to establish a strong relationship with parents and believes in active parent involvement in therapy sessions.Â
