Jaruwan Kittisopit M.D. is a Developmental and Behavioural Pediatrician.Dr Jaruwangraduated from medical school at Chiang Mai University with first degree honoursas gold medalist in 1994. She completed Pediatric residency training at Prince of Songkhla University in 1998.During 2001-2005 she worked as a visiting doctor at the Developmental and Behavioural Clinic of the Marcus Institute, Department of Pediatrics, EmoryUniversity, USA and later took up a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Developmental and Behavioural Intervention at the Emory Autism Center, and the Walden Early Childhood Program. After returning to Thailand Dr Jaruwanaccepted a clinical post at the Special Needs Child Center at SamitivejSrinakarin Childrenās Hospital where she remains on a consultancy basis since co-founding Merak Clinic in 2010. Her main interest and special focus is children and individuals within the field of autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) and their related conditions such as ADHD, Specific Learning Disorders and developmental or behavioural problems. She is a certified evaluator of ADI-R and ADOS (the gold standard diagnostic assessment for ASDs) and works with a multidisplinary team in collaboration with family, school and community, specifically in clinical and formal developmental assessment; clinical follow up;social skills training; parents/caregivers training for children with special needs; school consultations including school-based assessment; multidisciplinary team meetings; teacher and paraprofessional training. Her early intervention approach is based upon naturalistic ABA (incidental teaching) and Early Start Denver Model (ESDM). She is a regular guest lecturer and public speaker in the area of child developmentand received an āUnsung Heroes of Compassionā award in 2009. Dr Jaruwan believes in multidisciplinary team workand empowering parents as their childās advocates.
