Grace Yu
Ms Grace Yu graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing (with Honours) in 2001. Upon graduation, she came to Singapore to work as a speech therapist in Tan Tock Seng Hospital where she started off her professional development in Aphasia and swallowing disorders. In 2003, she was awarded the Courage Star Award in recognition of her dedication to her patients during the SARS period. She received sponsorship to complete a postgraduate course in Dysphagia Diagnosis and Management by Dr Maggie-Lee in the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. She continued to broaden her clinical skills and went on to spearhead the start-up of speech therapy services in Ang Mo Kio Hospital. In 2006, she went back to Hong Kong for further studies and worked in a private therapy centre. Practicing as a Pediatric clinician specialized in speech and language, she worked closely with teachers, caretakers, social workers and occupational therapist to deliver holistic therapy services to children and training workshops in primary schools. This has given her great exposure to children with a diverse range of speech challenges. Her wealth of experience accrued in this field allows her to deftly adapt her therapy approach to the unique learning style of each child and effectively facilitate speech and language stimulation for the child. Graceās areas of special interest includes autism and speech and language delay, in which she takes great delight in seeing a child make breakthroughs. Upon her return to Singapore in 2010, she was appointed an external clinical educator to supervise a Master of Science (Speech and Language Pathology) student from NUS. Being passionate about her work, Grace is constantly on an endeavor to explore new treatment approaches and methods that can work with the children under her care. Ultimately, she seeks to promote their interest in learning during individual and group therapy sessions.
