Established in 1958 as the North Essex Child Guidance Clinic, Northwest Essex Community Healthcare Network, Inc. (NECHN) began serving emotionally disturbed children and their families from the towns of Belleville, Bloomfield and Nutley. Due to growth, in 1964 the staff could no longer be contained in its original site on the premises of Clara Maass Hospital, and as a result, the Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders provided space for our Agency on the grounds of the then Essex County Geriatric Center. At this time, Essex County residents began receiving psycho therapeutic services for mental health issues at this Agency.Northwest Essex offers a comprehensive range of services which includes Outpatient, Co-Occurring, Addiction, Bilingual and Partial Care. Treatment is individualized according to each person’s needs and utilizes a recovery and wellness approach to maximize an individual’s potential.
