Elaine Reilly
Elaine graduated with a BSc Honours degree in Speech and Language Therapy from University College Cork. She has gained clinical experience in a variety of settings including H.S.E primary community care clinics, nursing homes, acute hospitals, rehabilitation units and services for adults with acquired communication impairments. She has worked with a diverse client group encompassing people of all ages, presenting with communication and swallowing difficulties such as developmental speech and language delays and disorders, aphasia, dysarthria, social skills and swallowing impairments. Populations she has worked with include post-stroke, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, traumatic brain injury autism spectrum disorder.<br /> Elaine has a particular interest in the area of acquired communication disorders and has completed research pertaining to the use of technology by speech and language therapists in the management of these difficulties, with particular focus on how technology can be beneficial to therapeutic interventions. Elaine also has experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team and has provided training to both staff and parents in various settings. Elaine is committed to furthering her clinical skills through continuing professional development. She is dysphagia competent and has attended courses relating to her profession, including Lámh Module 1 and training in the management of paediatric dysphagia. Elaine is a member of the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists and is a registered member of CORU. She is dedicated to providing each one of her clients with individualised, client-centred therapy.
