Northwest Essex Community Healthcare Network, Inc. (NECHN) began serving emotionally disturbed children and their families from the towns of Belleville, Bloomfield and Nutley. Due to growth, in 1964 the staff could no longer be contained in its original site on the premises of Clara Maass Hospital, and as a result, the Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders provided space for our Agency on the grounds of the then Essex County Geriatric Center. At this time, Essex County residents began receiving psycho therapeutic services for mental health issues at this Agency.
