Colette Gill graduated with honours Bachelors degree in Speech and Language Therapy from the National University of Ireland, Galway in 2009. She has gained clinical experience in a variety of settings including an acute hospital, primary care and residential care. Colette’s experience and expertise are in the area of adults with communication and swallowing disorders. These include aphasia, apraxia of speech, dysarthria, cognitive impairment, voice disorders, use of alternative and augmentative communication and swallowing disorders. She has experience working with clients with dementia, respiratory disorders, neurological conditions (Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neuron Disease, Parkinson’s disease), head & neck cancer and clients post stroke.<br /> Colette has recently completed her Master’s degree in Dementia Care through Trinity College Dublin, where she received a distinction. Colette is passionate about developing the role of SLT in dementia care. Her research investigated the preparation, clinical support and confidence of SLTs working with people with dementia in Ireland. She recently presented her findings at the International Association of Logopedics & Phoniatrics conference which was held in Dublin. Colette has also presented at the Irish Gerontology Society Conference, receiving a president’s medal for one of her projects. Colette hopes to publish her research in the coming months.
