C.S.I.REHABILITATION CENTRE
The local people in the hills mostly come from economically weaker sections of society and some of the villages around Kodaikanal come under tribal belt. In 1989, through the Rotary Club of Kodaikanal, a local screening camp for the disabled was organized and during that time to their surprise there were many children affected by polio and other disabilities were identified. It was found that children with polio, due to the difficult mountain terrain; could not be brought to get medical treatment or go into corrective surgeries or any other facilities for rehabilitation programs. Few of the Rotarians who were members of the Church of South India felt the need of a Rehabilitation centre in Kodaikanal to offer services to children with disabilities.
